The Senior Image Quality Engineer will be part of indie’s Vision team, joining a highly skilled Image Quality team that continuously delivers best-in-class automotive camera performance using indie’s current and next-generation ICs. This role involves close collaboration with imaging algorithm, firmware, and software tools teams to achieve outstanding results.
Responsibilities

Deliver world-class image quality for indie’s camera modules across a range of automotive applications (smart backup, digital mirror, surround view, in-cabin monitoring, ADAS) and CFA types (RGGB, RCCB, RGB-IR).

Identify, define, and drive improvements in image quality by developing new tuning methodologies, testing metrics, and tools.

Develop proofs of concept to demonstrate ISP technology strengths and showcase best-in-class image performance.

Collaborate with indie’s ISP and Vision Embedded Software teams to implement algorithm and tool enhancements.

Partner with the Vision Platform Engineering team to support image sensor driver development, maintenance, and performance optimization across various camera modules and target applications.

Work closely with the Vision Applications Engineering team and customers to productize indie’s camera processors for optimal image quality in human and machine vision applications.

Create training materials and technical documentation on image quality for applications engineers and customers.

Serve as the subject matter expert and technical lead for Image Quality and Color Science.

Mentor team members on image processing concepts and help them advance in their careers.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or Optical Science, with emphasis on Imaging Theory and Color Science.

8+ years of hands-on experience delivering fully tuned ISP pipelines for automotive, mobile, consumer, industrial, or medical imaging products.

5+ years of experience developing image quality solutions, performing testing and validation, and tuning and troubleshooting image sensors and/or ISPs.

Proven experience mentoring imaging engineers and solving complex image quality challenges.

Deep expertise in color science, image quality metrics, and ISP imaging pipelines.

Proficiency with Python or MATLAB/Octave for data analysis and automation.

C programming skills and experience in embedded environments are a plus.

Strong data-driven mindset, scientific methodology, and hands-on experimental skills.
